Hypnotherapy for Trauma, Grief and Life Changes in Brixton and Online

You do not have to carry the weight of the past forever, and you do not have to retell every painful detail to put it down.

This work might be for you if…

  • Something that happened years ago still shapes how you feel today
  • You are grieving, and the grief has not followed the rules you expected
  • A divorce, redundancy, move or diagnosis has knocked the ground from under you
  • You find yourself angry, flat or numb and are not sure why
  • You cannot stop replaying a moment, a relationship or a conversation
  • You are managing everything on the surface and falling apart in private

If so, you are not alone, and it is not a life sentence.

Pain does not always come from one big event

Sometimes trauma is a single, shocking event. More often I see something quieter: a long run of small, painful experiences, a controlling relationship, a critical parent, years of being the one who copes. I call it death by a thousand cuts. No single moment looks dramatic from the outside, but together they leave you anxious, over-responsible and unsure of your own worth.

Grief and life changes work in a similar way. They do not follow a timetable. Loss can arrive alongside relief, guilt, anger or nothing at all, and all of it is normal.

Working gently, at your pace

My approach is trauma-informed, which means safety comes first. We start by building steadiness in your body and your life, so that you have somewhere solid to stand before we look at anything difficult. I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed work, EFT, EMDR and Havening where they suit you, alongside hypnosis.

IFS is based on a simple idea: we are made up of many parts. There is the part that wants to speak up and the part terrified of the consequences. There is the part that pushes on and the part that is desperate to rest. Some parts carry old pain, and others have taken on jobs to protect you from it. Using trance and guided inner work, we listen to those parts with curiosity and compassion, rather than arguing with them.

You do not need to relive the past or tell me the whole story. We can work with how it feels now. Many clients are surprised by how gentle it is.

Anger, change and moving forward

Anger is often grief or fear wearing armour. If it is part of your story, we make room for it without letting it run the show. Whether you are rebuilding after a separation, adjusting to a new chapter or finding a way to live with loss, my aim is to help you feel more like yourself again, with more choice about what comes next.

What to expect

We start with a free 15-minute consultation to talk through what is going on and whether I can help. Sessions last one hour to an hour and a half, at my clinic in Brixton (500m from the tube, overlooking Brockwell Park) or online via Zoom. Most clients notice a shift within two to three sessions and work with me for six to twelve in total. Clinical hypnotherapy is nothing like stage hypnosis: you stay awake, aware and in control throughout. Read more about sessions and fees or about me.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to talk about what happened?

No. We can work with the feelings and patterns without going through every detail. You stay in charge of what you share.

Is hypnotherapy safe for trauma?

Hypnotherapy is a gentle state of focused relaxation, and I use a paced, trauma-informed approach. If you have a diagnosis such as PTSD, or are seeing another therapist, it helps to tell me at the start so we can work together sensibly.

How long does grief work take?

There is no deadline for grief, and I would never ask you to rush it. Some clients need a few sessions to feel lighter, others prefer longer, steady support.

What if I am in crisis right now?

I am not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your GP, call 999 in an emergency, or call Samaritans free on 116 123 at any time.

Ready to talk it through?

Book a free 15-minute consultation. There is no pressure, and no need to have it all figured out first.
