Hypnotherapy for Relationships and Parenting in Brixton and Online

The way we love, argue, trust and parent is shaped by patterns we learned long before we could choose them. Once you can see the pattern, you can change it.

You might recognise…

  • The same argument keeps happening with a different person or in a different year
  • Jealousy, insecurity or fear of being left takes over
  • You find intimacy difficult, or you shut down when things get close
  • Parenting has left you overwhelmed, guilty or unsure who you are
  • A difficult relationship with your own mother or father still weighs on you
  • Returning to work after a baby brings up feelings you did not expect

If so, you are not alone, and it is not a life sentence.

Why patterns repeat

Our earliest relationships teach us what to expect from love. If closeness felt unsafe or unpredictable, you may learn to hold back, or to cling, or to keep the peace at any cost. As adults those patterns come along into partnerships, friendships and family life, and they are not something you have chosen.

In my work I take personal responsibility very seriously, and I mean that kindly. It is not about blame. It is about noticing what you can change, so that you are no longer at the mercy of old reactions.

Relationships and intimacy

Jealousy, mistrust, fear of rejection and trouble with closeness often come from parts of us that are trying to protect against being hurt. In sessions we get to know those parts, understand what they are afraid of and help them to relax. Many clients tell me they feel calmer, clearer in how they communicate and more able to stay present when things get hard. I also offer couples sessions.

Parenting, motherhood and identity

Parenting is wonderful and relentless, and it can make you lose yourself. I have been there as a parent myself, and I see many mothers who feel stretched between work, children and everything else, with no room left for themselves. We look at guilt, overwhelm and expectations, the transition back to work, and how to be present with your children without disappearing.

I also work with the relationships we carry from our own childhoods, including the complicated bond between mothers and daughters. Healing that connection can change how you parent, and how you feel in yourself.

What to expect

We start with a free 15-minute consultation to talk through what is going on and whether I can help. Sessions last one hour to an hour and a half, at my clinic in Brixton (500m from the tube, overlooking Brockwell Park) or online via Zoom. Most clients notice a shift within two to three sessions and work with me for six to twelve in total. Clinical hypnotherapy is nothing like stage hypnosis: you stay awake, aware and in control throughout. Read more about sessions and fees or about me.

Frequently asked questions

Can we come to sessions as a couple?

Yes. I offer couples sessions as well as individual ones. Contact me and we can talk about whether it would suit you both.

Do I need my partner to take part?

No. Change in one person often shifts the dynamic for both, and many clients come on their own.

Can you help with postnatal or new-parent overwhelm?

I can support you with stress, guilt and the adjustment to parenthood. If you are struggling with low mood or your mental health after having a baby, please also speak to your GP or health visitor.

Is it only about the past?

No. We use the past only to understand the pattern. The work is about what you want your relationships and family life to look like now.
